Saucy Pork Burrito Bowls Recipe | Hello Fresh Dupe Recipe
May 02, 2021We are starting a new FUN series on my YouTube channel where I dupe recipes from Hello Fresh. I'll probably dupe other delivery company recipes as well but I am starting with Hello Fresh.
If you're wondering if you can make those tasty meals in their advertisements for an comparable or affordable rate, then you are in the right place.
You can watch the full video on my YouTube channel here.
How Much Would This Cost From Hello Fresh?
Hello Fresh is simple and transparent with their pricing. I am using the normal price of their meals not including any new member promotion because the "new customer promotions" are not going to last forever.
For the base cost per person, it is 8.99. Let's say $17.98 as the price I would like to beat because I'm cooking for both my husband and I.

What About Food Waste?
In many of the Hello Fresh ads on Facebook and Instagram that I see, food waste is always a big emphasis. While I am happy that we're talking about food waste, I get skeptical when it is backed by a large company promoting their niche products.
In this recipe, I was concerned about the sour cream and the cilantro.
Fresh cilantro is relatively cheap but you get a whole bush of it. If you don't particularly like the cilantro, I would just skip the cilantro-lime crema and just make the salsa with no cilantro in it.
Then, with the sour cream, you can substitute it with plain Greek yogurt. That way you can just top it with a bit of honey or maple syrup and eat it as a snack. If you're someone who likes your bowls super saucy, you can also just buy the largest container of sour cream or Greek yogurt and go WILD.
Let's Get Cooking!
1. Prepare the rice
Prepare the rice according to the package instructions.
2. Season the pork
You can either use a premade taco seasoning or make your own.
To make it simple, gather your garlic powder, chili powder, Cajun powder, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle each seasoning on both sides of the pork.
3. Sear the pork
On medium heat, sear the pork for about 4-5 minutes on each side.
Pro-tip: I like to set a timer for each side of the pork so I can double task with no fear of forgetting and overcooking the food.
4. Make the salsa
Take the 4 Roma tomatoes, 2 cloves of garlic, 1/2 onion, a handful of cilantro, salt and pepper.
Blender or food processor: Add all the ingredients to your machine and pulse until nice and chunky.
By hand: Dice the tomatoes, mince the garlic, mince the onion, and chop the cilantro. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
5. Create the cilantro-lime crema
Ingredients needed: Sour cream, 1 clove of garlic, a handful of cilantro, and the juice form half of a lime.
Add all the ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
If you are creating the sauce by hand, I would use 1 tsp of garlic powder instead of mincing the garlic by hand.
6. Assemble your bowl and ENJOY
