Ginger Orange Juice Recipe aka The Best Orange Juice You Will Ever Drink
Apr 12, 2021I'm always looking to find something interesting to pick up from the grocery store and months and months ago I went on an orange kick. I was buying pounds and pounds of them every week and eating them all the time.
I would have kept on this habit but the oranges became unpredictable. What does that mean?
Sometimes, they would be sweet and juicy and sometimes they would be dry with barely any juice in them- the latter was not worth playing orange roulette, so I stopped buying them
Recently, Oranges Were Looking REAL Good
So, I decided to give them a shot and use up the literal pound in a half of fresh ginger I have in my on my kitchen counter.
I don't regret it one bit. These were the juiciest, most perfect oranges EVER. I got 5 to make juice for my husband and I.
A Note About Juicing Oranges By Hand
The way that is most popular and cost effective is a simple manual hand juicer. If you're making orange juice for more than one person, that one is a TON of work to juice each orange my hand, however learn from my mistakes because I tried a second method and quickly had to jump to a third method.
Orange Juice Method #2
After manual juicing was too much for me, I thought about switching to my high-powered blender- Hear me out!
I've put a lot into my blender and it pulverizes things, but I make smoothies and after you put pulp in a blender you either have to deal with a really think drink or strain it. I thought it would be simple to strain, but I was wrong.
I use paper towels until I get cheesecloth when I make ginger shots. It was just way to much orange juice to wait to slowly go through the paper towels and I was getting tired of waiting for this orange juice.
Orange Juice Method #3
Now, I was ready to drink this orange juice but it was straining slowly. I have a plan to get a strainer but I haven't yet, so I used what I had on hand.
I took a clean kitchen cloth and a large bowl. I put all the juice and pulp mixture into the napkin and squeezed. I was done in just about 5 minutes and ready to drink the orange juice, but now, we need to add the ginger because fresh squeezed orange juice is great and when you add ginger, it was out of this world.
How To Add Ginger
I only have a blender to make some juices and smoothies and I have been really big into ginger shots recently. The ginger shot drink is the perfect addition, adding for your taste, to the orange juice.
Here's how I make my ginger shot, unless you have a juicer, you kinda have to make alot of the ginger shot so everything can get blended up nicely:
- 1 lemon
- 1.5 c coconut water
- 1/4 c course cut ginger
Just add it to the blender and blend until smooth. In my Vitamix I just put it on smoothie and call it a day.
Now, I do not add all of this to the orange juice. I add a little bit, taste the juice, then add a little bit more until I find the perfect ginger to orange ratio.
Bon Appetit!
